New? HeRe’s what you can expect.

Welcome to the Crossing.

We usually gather at 6:00 PM every Thursday to eat dinner and gather in fellowship for an hour, then Worship begins at 7:00 PM.

Worship is in-person and through zoom.

The structure of Worship is available in a worship sheet offered in-person and online, made available at each service so newcomers, oldcomers, and anycomers alike can follow along if they wish to.

We offer scripture readings, a reflection from a community member, shared spiritual practice, reflective discussion space, open space for creative worship, song (and dance if you are so moved!), chant, prayers of the people, eucharist, and mutual blessings. All are welcome!

Masks are optional.

We have space to self-determine social distancing.

Communion is offered every week.

Where to Find t0 Us

The Crossing worships at 138 Tremont St. at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul (that’s the building with 5 pillars and a blue nautilus shell!) across from the Boston Common and the Park St. T Station.

We are most accessible by public transit via Park St. or Downtown Crossing T stops. We also sell parking vouchers for the Boston Common parking garage at a discount ($10)!

Accessibility:

Accessibility is important for our church family and as such the south entrance to the right of the stairs is accessible for wheelchairs, walkers, and for other mobility needs.  We stay flexible to the needs of the community, so whether you need a different format for the worship sheet or assistance in other ways, we do our best to meet those needs. We currently do not have translation but hope to improve that in the future.

FAQs

Where do you meet?

We currently meet in the sanctuary of Cathedral Church of St Paul. It is located at 138 Tremont St., Boston, MA

IS THIS CHURCH PART OF A DENOMINATION?

Yeah, we’re part of the Episcopal Church, though people from a variety of traditions and no tradition are part of our community.

IS IT OK IF I'M NOT AN EPISCOPALIAN?

Absolutely! Only about 10-20% of our community identifies themselves as Episcopalians. If you want to become an Episcopalian, we’ll walk with you through the process, but it’s not a requirement – we’ve got Methodists, Catholics, Baptists, Evangelicals, Pentecostals, Atheists, and more who count themselves as part of this community.

IS IT OK IF I’M NOT A CHRISTIAN?

Absolutely! We are, however, a Christian community rooted in the life and witness of Jesus, living in conversation and continuity with the amazing and beautiful Christian tradition. While we’re very interested in interfaith and interpath conversation, if you’re looking to join an explicitly interfaith community (or a Jewish community, or a Buddhist community, etc), you might want to look into one of our partner communities.

Am I allowed to take communion?

Everyone is welcome to take communion, regardless of who they are or what they bring with them. We use both wine and grape juice, and gluten-free bread. Currently in the pandemic, we are pausing communion.

WHAT ARE THE DEMOGRAPHICS OF THE COMMUNITY?

The Crossing has been home to many different kinds of people over the years, but currently the majority of us are in our twenties and thirties, in the LGBTQIA+ community, and mostly white.

Are you working on anti-racism in any way?

Yes! We acknowledge we are deeply rooted in a white supremacy culture that is not the way of Jesus and so we reflect, learn, confess, listen, and act in ways that bring us closer towards being an anti-racist community and having that be real, true, and honest.

ARE CHILDREN WELCOME AT WORSHIP?

Yes, definitely! The Crossing’s emphasis on interactivity, creativity, and practice engages children in ways that other churches don’t. We don’t, however, have any sort of child care program, choosing instead to have children participate fully in our worship.

HOW WOULD YOU CATEGORIZE YOUR THEOLOGY?

We are a progressive and expansive Christian community where queer folks are celebrated.
